Swim London Completes Successful Trial Swim on the Thames

We successfully completed a full trial of the Swim London route from Brentford to Putney. The day provided a brilliant first glimpse of what's coming to the Thames this September.

On Sunday 12 July, we completed a full trial of the Swim London route from Brentford to Putney — and it was a brilliant day on the river.

A group of experienced open-water swimmers tested the course, supported by our safety boats and operational team. The trial allowed us to assess the route, tidal conditions, swimmer movement and key safety procedures ahead of the main event on 6 September.

The swim went extremely well and provided valuable feedback for everyone involved. It was also a first glimpse of what Swim London can become: hundreds of swimmers travelling through the heart of the capital, passing some of west London's most recognisable landmarks before finishing at Putney.

The trial was an important milestone, but the work continues. We're now using everything we learned to refine our plans alongside our safety partners and the Port of London Authority.

A huge thank you to the swimmers, crew and everyone who helped make the day possible. We can't wait to welcome you to the Thames in September.

Ride the Tide. Swim the Capital.
